Terms of membership and donation
The rules that apply to online membership and donations.
Purpose
These terms apply to memberships and donations paid online on this site to Africa Strategia (Afstrat), a French non-profit association (loi 1901), RNA W751283940, 32 Rue Juliette Savar, 94000 Créteil, France.
Membership
Three categories are offered: student and early-career researcher, individual member and institutional member. Membership is valid for twelve months from the date of payment. It is not renewed automatically: a reminder is sent before it ends and you can renew at any time from your member area.
Membership applications may be reviewed by the association’s board. If an application is declined, the amount paid is refunded in full.
Membership creates a member account. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential.
Prices and currencies
Amounts are shown in euros. CFA franc equivalents (XAF and XOF) use the fixed parity of €1 = 655.957 FCFA; the exact FCFA amount is displayed before any Mobile Money payment.
Donations
Donations are free-amount and one-off, from €5 or 3,000 FCFA. They fund the association’s activities. For any question about a receipt, write to contact.afstrat@gmail.com.
Payment
Payment is handled by specialised providers, depending on the methods offered at checkout: Stripe, PayPal and Revolut for payments in euros, Flutterwave for Mobile Money in CFA francs. Africa Strategia never receives or stores your card numbers. A receipt is sent by email after each payment.
Refunds
Except for payment errors or declined applications, memberships and donations are non-refundable. For any request, write to contact.afstrat@gmail.com within fourteen days of payment.
Personal data
Data collected when you pay or create an account is processed in line with the site’s privacy and cookies policy, linked in the footer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law.
