Afstrat at the heart of research on the Africas
Africa Strategia took part in this 9th edition both individually and as a team. As at other international scientific events (ECAS 2025 in Prague, SGAS-VAD 2026 in Basel), its members contributed by organising panels and presenting papers.
The Meetings, held every two years by the GIS “Études africaines en France”, bring the French African studies community together through thematic workshops, round tables, screenings and a publishers’ fair. The 2026 edition, hosted for the first time at the Campus Condorcet, brought together nearly 600 researchers.
Why this event matters for Afstrat
Strengthen the scientific legitimacy of Afstrat’s recent presence in France among academic actors.
Build links with universities, research centres and other think tanks, in France and in Africa.
Circulate the work of a young generation of researchers based in Africa, Europe and North America.
Take part in current debates, including the mobility of African researchers and obstacles to obtaining visas.
